Wireless Internet Access
The Library has free wireless access available throughout the building and in the courtyard. The wireless name to look for is "Library Public WiFi".
Five computers are available for use in the Adult reference room in the library. These are first-come, first-serve and can be used for thirty minutes a day, or up to one hour if no one is waiting. Ask for a ticket at the Circulation Desk. The ticket is good for one session, whether it be ten minutes or an hour, per day. Time can not be added to any session. The computers have Internet access and MS Office 2003 (Word, Excel & PowerPoint). Scanning is available on one computer. Black & white and color printing are both available. The first three black & white pages printed are free. Each page after is 10 cents. Color printing is 40 cents per page, no free pages.
No programs may be installed on these computers. CD's and USB drives may be used providing that they do not need software installed to be accessed. CD's are available at the Circulation desk for $1.

Early Literacy Station
Thanks to a grant from the Winnie Belle Learned Fund and additional support from the Williston-Richmond Rotary, we have a digital learning center for children ages 2-10. This self contained computer system provides a wide variety of educational software, including reading, phonics, computer skills, math, science, music and writing programs. The system features a large touch screen monitor, a colorful keyboard and child-sized mouse. Programs are available in English and French.
Video Conferencing at the Library
The Dorothy Alling Memorial Library of Williston received a grant through the Vermont Department of Libraries for videoconferencing equipment. The Dorothy Alling Memorial Library is excited to be included in this project.
Videoconferencing can be used with Google Hangout, Skype or other free applications. It has many uses such as online training or meetings, book club discussions and job interviews. It allows two or more locations to communicate through video and audio transmissions over the Internet. Anyone can use this free service. No library card is needed, it is free and open to the public. Contact the library to get information on availability.
The Library has a fax machine that is available for patrons who wish to send and/or receive faxes. The cost is $1.00/page for local outgoing faxes; long distance the first page is $2.00. All incoming faxes cost 10 cents per page. If you wish to fax something, please ask at the Circulation Desk. No more than 15 pages can be faxed and confirmation pages are not available.
