Library Corrects Inaccurate News
It seems the library is the topic of some inaccurate news. Over the last month the library staff has heard some questions and concerns about the future of the library. Some people think that the library is soon moving to Taft Corners and the Library Trustees were voting to do so at their February meeting. FaceBook and word-of-mouth are great for passing things along quickly but what is passed along is not always correct. Please remember to go to the source for accurate information. In this case, ask the library!
Here is the real news:
Library 2019-2023 Strategic Plan
The 2019-2023 strategic plan for the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library (Williston) is completed and can be found here. A vote is for formal adoption was held at the Library Trustees' meeting on February 11, 2019.
Library Value Calculator
How much money has using the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library saved you over the past year? The American Library Association (ALA) posts a Library Value Calculator on its website here: Library Value Calculator
By inputting the number of items borrowed, programs attended, and more, you can calculate the value of your use this past year.
For example, if you borrowed two adult books, two children's books, and attended two library programs, you saved $98 this year - and paid much less than that per capita to support the library. Many people do that much at the library in just one week!
Everyone has a story to tell, and people are hungry to hear them. It's what draws us together as people. This workshop will help those who attend build their stories and find an audience. Join us for one or all sessions. Presented by Dr. Steven Shepard, a professional author, photographer, audio producer, and educator. Please pre-register.
Thursday, February 21, 1 pm. Session Three: Tools of the Trade: Explore the software, hardware, and other tools that make writing easier, effective, and efficient.
Thursday, February 28, 1 pm. Session Four: Open Forum (Bring Your Questions). Work Review: At the mid-way point, this is an opportunity to bring and issue, challenge, opportunity, question, or discussion to the workshop for resolution.
Series will continue for a total of 8 weeks. There will be a new registration each month.
