craneorBook Arts Series: Winter Challenge: 1,000 Paper Cranes
January 2-February 27. Join us for a three-part crafting series on book and paper arts.  Recycle your old magazines by transforming them into art! Watch here for a video of how to make a crane, and pick up a bag with instructions at the library by ringing our doorbell during library hours (Mon-Fri 10-6, Sat 10-3). Drop off completed cranes by leaving them in the bag on our porch.

In Japan the crane is considered a sacred bird, heralded as a symbol of happiness and longevity.  It is common for people to fold 1,000 paper cranes to lift up a sick friend, or to offer one another communal hope and mutual support during difficult times. Join us this winter in creating a Japanese Senbasuru, a display of 1,000 paper cranes.
