The Dorothy Alling Memorial Library has a book group that generally meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 12:30 called "The Brown Bag Book Group".

At this time the book group is meeting online. We are all learning new ways to engage these days, and we don't want technology to be a barrier for anyone.  If you would like to join us but need some assistance connecting via Zoom, we are here to help.  Please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or leave a message at 878-4918 with your phone number and a good time to reach you, and one of us will be in touch to help walk you through it.

There are many sources for external book discussion groups. The library has multiple copies of books available as do other libraries in the state. Please see below for lists of books that may be available for loan.

If the source is a HomeCard library, go directly to that library and borrow the material using your Williston library card. Call the library ahead of time to make sure the title is available on the date needed and to have them placed on reserve. One person in the group is responsible for checking out the entire set and distributing them to members. Be aware that the original borrower is responsible for lost or damaged books.

If the source says that we can borrow the sets for you through interlibrary loan, please call us at 878-4918 or ask at the front desk. It is best to ask for them 2-3 weeks before you need the books. Let us know how many copies you need, what date you need them by and what date they would be returned by.One person in the group (must be a Williston or St. George resident) must check out the entire set and distribute them to members. Be aware that the original borrower is responsible for lost or damaged books. We will contact the source to make sure the items are available and will have them delivered to the library. If the sets are very heavy or large we may ask you to contribute toward the cost of mailing.

You may not find a title you would like or enough copies for your group. If that should occur, please ask each member of your group to find their own copies. Individuals may request interlibrary loan copies, but because of the time it requires, we cannot borrow individual copies from multiple sources for the entire group.

We've attached lists of titles with multiple copies available at libraries in the state.
