American Precision Museum

amprecThe American Precision Museum in Windsor, Vermont is located in a renovated 1846 factory which is said to be the first U.S. factory where precision interchangeable parts were made. The museum has the largest collection of historically significant machine tools in the States. The museum us open daily from 10am until 5 pm Memorial Day Weekend through October.

Birds of Vermont Museum

carver_picThe Birds of Vermont Museum has more than 500 carvings completed by Bob Spear, one of Vermont's leading naturalists and woodcarvers. The museum, located in Huntington, VT,  is one of the best kept secrets in Vermont and visitors often find themselves returning many times.  Some of the highlights:

  • 101 acres of adjacent nature trails - some connecting with Audubon Vermont
  • Bird songs in the Nesting Birds Exhibit
  • Information on the art of woodcarving
  • Endangered and extinct birds in dynamic exhibits

ECHO Lake Aquarium & Science Center

echo1ECHO stands for Ecology, Culture, History and Opportunity. Check out the pass and discover over 60 species of fish, amphibians, invertebrates and reptiles at the ECHO Center in downtown Burlington. There are also many hands on exhibits, traveling exhibits, live animal feedings and more!

Education and Enrichment for Everyone (EEE)

EEEEducation and Enrichment for Everyone (EEE) is a volunteer run, non-denominational lifelong learning organization which presents twelve weeks of programs each fall and spring. Check out the EEE website for their schedule of lectures then contact the library to reserve the pass for one free lecture. If you attend other lectures after that you'll be asked to pay $5 at the door or buy a semester membership for $40. Membership also entitles you to attend programs at eight Osher Lifelong Learning Institute sites throughout Vermont and receive a discounted member rate for OLLI at UVM programs. Lectures are held Fridays at 2 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in South Burlington.

Fleming Museum

flemingFleming Museum at UVM opened in 1931 and houses a collection of over 25,000 objects from cultures worldwide. Nine special exhibits are hosted annually. Stop by the library to pick up a single-use family pass. Available only to Dorothy Alling Memorial Library patrons. No reservations required.

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

LCCMThe Lake Champlain Maritime Museum promotes the active discovery and care of Lake Champlain's maritime heritage and environment through hands-on, mind-on experiences. The Museum's 4-acre campus at Basin Harbor (4472 Basin Harbor Road, Vergennes) is open from May 27 through October 15.

Admission: Free family (2 adults and their children/grandchildren under 18) admission to the museum. Does not include any additional discounts or special event admission.

Rokeby Museum Pass

rokebyRokeby is a ninety-acre National Historic Landmark designated for its Underground Railroad history. This museum is open from mid-May to late October.

Guidelines to borrowing the Rokeby pass:

Admission: This pass entitles the card holder to free admission for 1 adult free admission and 1 child free admission and 1/2 price admission for 4 additional adults or children. Children younger than 5 are free.

Shelburne Farms

shelburneShelburne Farms is a 1,400 acre working farm with walking trails, children's farmyard, inn and restaurant on the shores of Lake Champlain. The farm hosts many special events throughout the year.

The walking trails at the farm are available year round. Leashed dogs are allowed from November 1 - April 30. No dogs are permitted from May 1- October 31.

The children's farmyard is open mid-October to mid-May.
